Loveseats for Small Spaces
Living in a studio or apartment, it can be tough to balance efficiency and style when it comes to the “living room” seating – without taking up space with overly bulky designs. Luckily, there is a sleek alternative to massive sofas and sectionals: the loveseat (and, more specifically, the small space loveseat)!
How Many People Will a Small Space Loveseat Fit?
Just as with ‘regular-sized’ loveseats, small space loveseats are designed to fit two adults. If you are working with a small apartment or studio space, and are looking to incorporate a seating arrangement that’s similar to a sofa but smaller than a chair, look no further than the loveseat – even if you need to seat more than two people. Because of its sleek design, a small loveseat can be paired with as many extra seats as you need – such as sidechairs, stools and even ottomans – without taking up an impractical amount of space.
What Are the Dimensions of a Small Space Loveseat?
While the exact dimensions of a small space loveseat will differ from model to model, an average small loveseat is usually about 70 inches wide and 30 inches tall. Because ‘small’ is a relative term, before buying a ‘small’ loveseat, always check its dimensions, and measure your area where you plan to carry and place it. The last thing you want is a loveseat that won’t fit in your space – or, worse yet, through your doors!
Where to Place a Small Space Loveseat
In interior design, the word ‘small spaces’ often conjures up images of studios or apartments – but small space loveseats don’t have to be reserved just for these types of spaces. In fact, there are a whole host of other ‘small spaces’ within large houses or condos that often go overlooked – and in which a small loveseat would thrive! Consider, for example, a home office. Because home offices are not as large as living rooms, sofas and larger loveseats often can’t fit within them – and the concept of ‘extra seating’ is often written off as an ‘impossibility.’ Thanks to the small space loveseat, though, this doesn’t have to be the case. A compact design makes it possible to not only fit extra seats within a home office and other small areas – but also bring to them a touch of chic décor, plush, cozy lounging and an effortlessly refreshed aesthetic.
Styling with Small Loveseats
For balanced décor and maximum seating, a small loveseat pairs beautifully with an accent chair near one side. (If you are working with larger spaces, two accent chairs – one on each side of a small loveseat – also creates effortless elegance.)
The most important qualities to look for, when choosing a small loveseat for your décor, are color and material. A general rule of thumb is to match at least one of the two (either material or color). Unless styled by a veteran designer, an off-white leather loveseat, for example, will clash next to a bright white fabric chair. On the other hand, an off-white fabric loveseat paired with an off-white leather accent chair is bold and ultra-chic.
No matter your style, the compact design of a small loveseat lets you have practicality and sheer comfort – and in our book, there’s never been a combo more enjoyable!
