Dining Table Size Guide

When you’re shopping for a dining table, the size, shape, style and materials are all important features to consider. Notice how we started with size though. This is the best place for you to start.

How big or small your dining space is will determine how big or small your dining table should be. Plus, you’ll want to think about how many people you’d like to have around your table at any given time.

Let's break it down, shall we?

— By Size —

Small Dining Tables that Seat 2-4
Tables that measure 60 inches and under are best for comfortably seating up to four people. Round tables and square tables tend to fit well in small dining spaces, but you can find rectangle tables on a smaller scale, as well. There are even triangle tables that sit up against walls, so you can seat two people in a cozy eat-in kitchen.

Medium Dining Tables that Seat 4-6

Tables that measure 80 inches and under are best for comfortably seating up to six people. Rectangle tables, as well as round tables that extend to oval tables are perfect for medium-size dining spaces. You can even use dining benches to squeeze a few more people around your table.

Large Dining Tables that Seat 6-8+

Tables that measure 90 inches and above are best for comfortably seating 8 or more people. Many of our large dining tables even come with extension leaves, which will expand the designs to greater lengths and fit more guests.

— By Height —

Standard Dining Table Height = 30 inches

Standard height dining tables sit at about 30 inches high. This allows plenty of room for your legs to fit comfortably underneath, and it’s what you’ll find in most restaurants, hotels and homes.

Counter Dining Table Height = 36 inches

Counter height dining tables typically sit at about 36 inches high. These elevated designs are known to create a more casual atmosphere that inspires everyone to gather around for a good, fun time. Counter height tables are often seen in bars and pubs, which is why they’re sometimes referred to as bar tables or pub tables.

Extension Dining Tables

As we briefly mentioned above, we offer extension dining tables. Any dining table with an extension includes a leaf, which allows it to expand to fit more guests. The best part is, you can use your extension table with or without the leaf, depending on the occasion and the amount of people you’re hosting.
